Really how old is it? I don't know exactly how old these are but I remember them being in my grandmas Knicks knack shelf, an not allowed to touch!

My ashtray is from the late 1930's to early 40's. This particular type of depiction was quite common in that time frame . . .an interesting piece of American social history. Some pieces were produced in the early 50's and shipped into the US from occupied Japan, although most pieces were marked as such. That makes me wonder about the red markings on the bottom . . . I know you said you cannot read them, but typically Japan used red, black, and a deep burgundy to stamp occupied Japan on their pieces. Cork stoppers are a dead give away to age as well . . . in the late 60's plastic stoppers were starting to be big, but cork was typically used for anything prior from the 50's and back. Your set is in beautiful condition . . . your grandmother took great care of them. I am bidding!!!

I'm not sure what they used back in the 40s 50s or 60 s but it looks like pottery or ceramic, an I have a few to list for some weeks so just keep checking thanks for enjoying my listing
