Almost any package you can send through the US Postal Service you can do with this. It might be harder with larger packages (the scale is only about 1 ft square). You just set the item on the scale, enter the zip codes in the computer program and box measurements etc., you can pay and print out your postage onto labels or paper to tape to the package. It is very similar to the Post office self-service kiosks, if that helps.

I haven't had time to check out the software again. I will have to try and re-install it and get back with you. i think they give you a $50 credit for trial at Stamps.com with this. If you want to continue with it and use it as a monthly service, I think that is the charge. I had originally won this off Listia and was saving it for around Christmas time when I do a lot of package mailing because of the $50 credit trial thing. I would definately use that up. This is propably best for people who do a lot of mailing regularly. You don't have to continue service after the trial period.
The package is too big to fit in a mailbox. They would probably drop this off at your door for you.

Alright, update...you actually get a 4-week free trial and a $5 credit towards postage, and $20 in postal coupons (not sure what these are) which is the "Bonus Offer" with this software. After a month it is $15.99 to continue using the stamps.com service. The software makes it so you can actually print out the postage and delivery confirmation stuff to attach to your package using Word, wordpefect, Lotus notes, Outlook Express, etc. The software requirements are Windows 200/xp/Vista/7, a standard laser or inkjet printer, internet connection. (Sorry, no Mac).

Can you still use the scale without paying for the monthly fee?

Maybe. I didn't get that far with it. I'm sure after the monthly fee you can't get the price of postage or print out the postal labels directly from you computer. Possibly still get the weight of the item? Not sure. Sold for listia credits "as is" in working condition with software.
