Description

The listing, Bond Coupon - Choctaw, Oklahoma & Gulf Railroad - 1910! has ended.

This is a coupon from a bond issued by the Choctaw, Oklahoma and Gulf Railroad Company. You would redeem each coupon for $25 every 6 months (May 1st or Nov. 1st of each year), until all the coupons had been redeemed and you were paid in full, plus the interest on the bond. This is coupon #20; based on this, I believe the bond was issued in May, 1904.

It's in fantastic condition! Crisp, clean paper, sharp text. The bond and coupons were printed by the "American Bank Note Co.", which printed many of the bonds of the day, as well as state or local currencies prior to the establishment of the Bureau of Engraving & Printing. They STILL make banknotes to this day!

It measures 3-1/4" x 1-1/4".

There's a great deal of info about the railroad on Wikipedia, so I urge you to read it prior to bidding. There's also a good entry about the Amer. Bank Note Co. on Wikipedia as well, so both entries should answer most of your questions!

Shipping & Handling:

1) Free shipping in the US via 1st Class Mail. It will ship in a plastic archival holder to preserve its condition.

2) International shipping is $13 via Priority Mail International Flat Rate Envelope.

Payment for International winners is by Paypal only. I know it's a lot for a small item, but it's the fastest and easiest!

this is neat! i almost missed it b/c it says buyer pays shipping in the field up top (so no pink "free shipping" under it) - just a heads up in case you wanted to change it for possible more bids!

This was listed BEFORE Listia changed the listing format that allowed the Seller to separate US and International S/H fees (my idea, BTW!).

A serious bidder would hopefully read the ENTIRE item description, and would see that US shipping is free. Even without free shipping, how much did you imagine it would cost to ship? TRUE collectors aren't put off paying a little bit for S/H.

I agree with both of you here. I am not put off by a small amount of S&H. But like she said, alot, and i do mean alot, of the people on here do not want to pay any shipping at all!! So they just cruise down the list looking at anything that says Free Shipping. It's a real shame too, because they miss out on alot of nice stuff. Oh well, more nice items for me and you. LOL
