Questions & Comments
Hi there; been a while... I don't know who promoted this series, do you? Was it the USPS or a private enterprise? (There was that Ladybird Johnson highway initiative, "Make America Beautiful", but that was different.)
Whitefoote.....man, I haven't seen you in two coons ages. I thought you had fallen into a hole somewhere! Nice to see you again! These must be from a private outfit. The USPS catalog doesn't mention anything about them, and there is nothing inside, or outside the cover, that says anything about a maker. Yeah, old Ladybird's deal didn't last very long. I suppose you could call it a FAD more than anything else.
Those older Farley 'National Parks' have always been a personal favorite -- but, the 'Devil's Tower' stamp has never seemed the same to me after watching Richard Dreyfuss sculpting it out of mashed potatoes in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." Nice auction!
