This is a halter used for training and many times bitless riding. It has knots that are used as pressure points around various areas of the head instead of inside of the mouth. Used by the hottest trainers around to get that "electric" feel between horse and human. Fantastic for teaching respect and laying foundation for bridle work. It is a gentle implement and can either have a lead rope attached to the chin piece for leading or reins/leadrope tied around as reins. Bought new for about $30. This particular halter has a much thicker nose-band than an average rope halter and is made to use for riding or to give a little more control for a feisty horse. I personally used it a couple timed riding my mare on a long ride a couple times and it has just been sitting ever since ...looking for a new home.

YES! Perfect because it has that extra bite on the nose band. I had a mare I used one of these on that was a FREAK in a bit, even after dental. She was a happy camper after :)

Thats exactly my problem. My guy will be absolutely horrible with a bit in, almost unrideable. he has confinement problems. Bitless...he is angel. But this is perfect since it still puts pressure on their nose so they respond better. this will be better that the plain halter I have been riding him in.

Absolutely, it will help you to get him more supple and to do lateral work in the ring, even if you mostly trail ride. I have another that I ride my four yr old in. I was a trainer for 20 yrs. Had a couple kids and am just FINALLY really enjoying the two that I bred and raised. Life is wonderful with hoses eh?
