is this sterling silver with gold over it or is it gold? Also you said you took it apart and measured it to 24.5 inches does that mean as is in the photo it is 8 inches?

if you read in the description it is gold tone, i do not see any markings on it, in the photo it would be 12 in. I hope this helps :)
