Delphiniums thrive in regions with relatively cool and moist summers, and often struggle in hot, dry summer weather. However, some new varieties are more tolerant of heat. These ones grow in a very hot area of my yard(for my region) but it rarely gets above 80 here. In a shady area it might do well, especially with well drained soil.

hmmmmmmmmmm makes me wonder I just realized I have been reading about hardy varieties. I live in the desert area of Southern California near Death Valley. We just had a MAJOR heat wave here and it killed what I had planted. Oh well

Yeah, mine seam to do okay in the sun...but they are summer bloomers.
