The listing, Vintage 1940's 1950's Italian Doll Shaped Purse Handbag has ended.

FOR FREE:
Is this fantastic vintage late 1940's early 1950's Italian doll shaped purse, over 50 YEARS OLD---- WOW!!!

She stands 7" tall!

The purse part of the doll is made of heavy duty felt material, it zips open in the back, and could be used as a change purse, the zipper is marked with "Lampo" which is an Italian company.

Her face is made of paper mache, and her arms are made of rubbery-like plastic, and her arms are moveable, her head is not.
The handbag area is in good shape, no holes at all, her sleeves, however do have some damage, it is very thin, frail see-thru material and does have holes and is torn.

She has blonde braided pig-tails, with a hat, and her eyes, lips etc...are handpainted.

This is a GREAT collector's piece!

SHIPPING IS FREE FOR USA BUYERS!

what is this doll made of ? plastic? resin? paper?

The body is made of a thick felt material, her arms are rubber-like plastic, her face is paper mache, and her upper torso, which is stuffed, is stuffed with what feels like straw-like material, which given her age of being more than 50 years old, that is what they used to stuff dolls with back then, as far as I know.....Thank you

I tried looking her up and I can not find her. Is she a collector's Item ?And what kind of material is on her sleeves ? Thanks

The material on her sleeves is a mesh type material (polyester) maybe?? I would say "Yes" she would be considered a Rare Collector's item, as, I have not been able to find very many of her type either. Some people would consider this type of item to be a Child's wristlet coin purse (that is what I have found in my research). Very unique little item!

sounds to me that given her age that what her insides are stuff with is saw dust. that sounds good

That may be, I know when I squeeze her (gently) there is a crunchy kind of sound, definitly not stuffed with cotton or any type of soft material.

I have one like her, different model but paper mache head and soft plastic arms with stuffed body. Mine is from 1953, and was part of a "around the world" collection. Mine also is about 6.5 inches tall, and is an older lady from Holland. There are people that collect paper mache dolls, they did not age well so there are not as many available as porcelain.

Thanks for the info on the date. My Grandmother had several of these, but I'm just not a collector of them, and she gave me so much stuff, that if I don't let go of a little bit of what she gives me, I'm going to end up on the show "Hoarders" LOL..... I am actually going to let her shop with the credits I earn from this doll! She wasn't real sure about the date, but she knew it ws late 40's to early 50's.
