"N" is the latest in Wifi and I personally have seen better signal strength with a couple older laptops and desktops with this type device.

Insert into USB Port and load driver from CD. Install Driver
only so that Windows will manage Wifi connection. Computer Will show wireless networks and you connect. Make sure that you load proper driver, which is the first one Ralink. I have used these on desktops as well as laptops and have just ordered 6 more.
