Yes you can get local channels,but the picture won't always be crystal clear.We were really good at positioning it and could keep most of our channels really clear,but some still had weak signals.If you aren't in search of perfection,and want something that will simply serve the purpose of getting you some basic channels without having to sign up for cable then this is the perfect thing for you.If you can make me an offer or however this works(this is my first auction listing),than I am up for it.Thanks!

There is no plug in on the antenna itself..only output and dc power..I am sure you could still plug in a game system or dvd player to your t.v,with the antenna attached to your t.v...we never had to use the antenna while using our dvd player,so I don't think you would have to either.
