I have had a regular Playstation. I have had a Playstation1. I now have a Playstation 2. I'm sure the card you have will PHYSICALLY fit into all 3 of these systems. But the thing is there is 2 different cards (The Playstation card and The Playstation 2 card). On the Playstation you can only use the Playstation card. On the Playstation 1 you can only use the Playstation card. When they created Playstation 2, they created a second type of card (The Playstation 2 card). See the Playstation 2 is fully backwards compatible, so all the games you could play on the Playstation will play in the Playstation 2, and all the games you could play on the Playstation 1 will play on the Playstation 2, and of course Playstation 2 games will play on the Playstation 2.

There are 4 systems:

Playstation (Looked like a bulky grey rectangular box)

Playstation1 (Much smaller and thinner than the previous system, white rectangular with rounded edges)

Playstation 2 (Black and rectangular)

Playstation 3 (Black, bulky and rectangular and kind of ergonomically shaped) (Does not use memory cards, because it uses the hard drive instead)
