Whenever I was ill I always knew I was going to be allowed out of bed in a few days because my mom would come into my room with a brand new paper doll book. The next day I would get a fresh bagel from the bakery and the day after that I was outside sitting on the stoop in the sunshine. Isn't it strange the rituals you remember? I still get that happy feeling of knowing freedom from my sickroom was near and I'd be allowed near my other 6 siblings again. I think I just told you I'm old LOL.
