The listing, Lot of (4) SCSI Hard Drives (FREE shipping w/ GIN) has ended.

Up on the block tonight is an auction for four (4) 10,000 RPM SCSI hard drives.

My only means of testing them was to toss them into one of my IBM blade servers (yes, I do have three blade servers in my garage just sitting around lol I will happily send pics to prove it if you're curious enough :). I cannot verify whether there are any files on these drives, but I can tell you that they sound fine mechanically. No clicks of death, no squealing/grinding, etc.

Now keep in mind that these are *SCSI*. Primarily used for server storage. You CAN use these on a desktop computer, but only if you were to purchase a SATA-to-SCSI (or IDE-to-SCSI, depending on your system) adapter.

Ok, so specs:

(2) Seagate Cheetah 10K.7 Ultra320 146GB 10,000 RPM
(1) Seagate Cheetah Ultra160 73.4GB 10,000 RPM
(1) IBM TotalStorage Ultra3 160/SSA 73GB 10,000 RPM

These drives are made to be FAST. Faster seek times = faster data access. They also tend to run much hotter than your typical 5,400 - 7,200 RPM mechanical hard drives.

Pics uploaded out of order for some reason, but everything's there for you to see. Will attempt to locate anti-static bags for the two unpackaged drives.

The reason I'm auctioning them... well, they're just sitting around not getting used. I have at least six other SCSI drives that are being "utilized", and these will collect dust forever and ever more if I don't send them to a good home.

Shipping will be in a USPS medium flat rate box w/delivery confirmation. Yes I am charging for partial shipping (PayPal or USPS money order) unless the GIN is used, or bidding exceeds 20,000. Will ship within seven days of receiving payment (if applicable) and receipt of a Listia verified address. No e-mailing me your address, I will not ship to a non-verified address.

If GIN is used, or winning bid is 20,000+ then I'll cover the entire shipping cost. Otherwise, it's only roughly half shipping cost for the winner.

I have to correct my description. But you can purchase a PCI SCSI controller if your motherboard only supports IDE. There are SCSI-to-SATA adapters on Newegg for about $8. However, the cheapest SCSI-to-IDE card I found is on eBay for about $15 (they typically run about $89-$99 it seems).

If a SCSI hard drive is connected with an IDE or SATA adapter, would the response/access time be slower? Would the drive itself still access fast, but returning the data would be slowed down? Just wondered.

Good question. I'm certain that in either SATA or IDE configuration, you'd still get the faster spindle speed. As for data retrieval though, I honestly don't know since I don't have a proper adapter. Having a tough time pulling up info on that specifically.

If you win, could see about meeting up. Tacoma is a bit far of a drive for me, but could possibly meet halfway somewhere. GIN is Get it Now, similar to the Buy it Now feature on eBay.
