Posted @ sherryandrea.com: Spread the word... funny that I have been thinking and stated out loud to my son that I wanted one more deck of tarot cards that are just a small deck...nothing special. I just wanted one deck that was like playing card size. Well I go to the dollar store to get my cheapy trash bags and I am browsing because it is a new store I hadn't been in yet and on the wall where they had toys (magic trick stuff) I saw the words tarot...and sure enough there in the toy section are tarot cards. Of course for $1 you can imagine how cheap they look but I sooo got a kick out of being able to say I bought my tarot cards at the $1 dollar tree. lol.
Review posted on Amazon.com: This deck is from the Dollar Tree. Greenbrier International is the company name used for all generic Dollar Tree merchandise. Check out your local Dollar Tree to confirm - you'll find a ton of that stuff there. So $9.99 is EXTREMELY overpriced for this deck. I would call this a learner's deck. First, the meanings for each of the Major Arcana are printed up on the top of each card. This is useful for people who want to have a quick summary but hate searching through books - though it would be helpful if the meanings were on the Minor Arcana as well. The deck doesn't actually come with 78 cards, just 70. The other 8 cards are placeholders to help people learn about tarot spreads. The art is interesting; not the best art ever, but it is definitely a unique and appealing style. So in all: Great for a learner's deck. Not so great for anyone else unless the art style is really appealing to you, or if you can't afford a different deck.
