Synopsis
A food writer and Observer columnist writes about his childhood in a vividly food-oriented memoir. Growing up in England in the 1960s, Nigel Slater was the victim of his mother's overcooked veggies and rock-hard cakes and his father's hostility to anything smacking of the homosexual that Slater would eventually grow up to become--and that included his aversion to eating eggs.
