The listing, Giant Oregon Pole Bean Seed has ended.
Offering 8 seeds per envelope. A dual-purpose bean. A great snap bean, as they grow to over a foot long and are still juicy and sweet. You can eat when it is normal string bean size, or eat then when big and tender, or let them dry and have (huge) fresh shelling beans and/or dry beans. Tolerates some shade, and wet weather like we have in the Pacific North West. Famous for being an Oregon heritage bean popular since the 1930s and recently it appeared to be lost. This strain comes from Oregon State University. Seed lot grown by Nicki Maxwell in Eugene, Oregon. I was gifted seed from a RAFT (Restoring Americas Food Traditions) garden last year, and planted them for the first time this year. WAY exceeded my expectations both in taste and production. Grows to over 15 feet tall, and ready in 65 days. Planted mine in May, and they are still producing new beans.
