Old World, New World provides a basis for teaching various units for NC History: notably in Key Stage 2 the core study units Tudor and Stuart Times and Exploration and Encounters 1450-1550.
It particularly emphasises work towards strand c of Attainment Target 1, providing a range of exercises that help pupils reconstruct the past and get a feeling for what life was like in the Aztec Empire and Elizabethan England at the time of the voyages of exploration. It also investigates the motives and causes behind the voyages.
