Questions & Comments
Mystifying argument. Seller is completely correct. The Hobbit was published in 1937, and the three books know generally as the Lord of the Rings Trilogy in 1954 and 1955.
Really??? If you kept looking through ALL of the pics you would have seen it... Honestly the pic is there and has been. Same books that was in my last auction so if you can't look at all the pics don't bid!
Just cause the very 1st Picture doesn't have the hobbit in it doesn't mean I have it! If your a lazy person who can't read my description or look at all my pics Before you comment Do NOt bid! It is plan and obvious that my LOTR set was part of another auction! And if anyone bothered to get on their actual computer and look at my auctions and feed backs you'd see my last auction! But even on a cell phone you can scroll through the pics. Seriously it's like the 3rd pic!
And considering I have 4 sets of the lord of the rings specially a box set from the 60's that was my dad's I assure you it's 3 books!!! Now adding the hobbit makes it 4 books! Now I have old companion and others that won't be including in the auction!
From Wiki:The work was initially intended by Tolkien to be one volume of a two-volume set, with the other being The Silmarillion, but this idea was dismissed by his publisher.[4][5] It was decided for economic reasons to publish The Lord of the Rings as three volumes over the course of a year from 21 July 1954 to October 1955, thus creating the now familiar Lord of the Rings trilogy.[4][6] The three volumes were entitled The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King. Structurally, the novel is divided internally into six books, two per volume, with several appendices of background material included at the end of the third volume. The Lord of the Rings has since been reprinted numerous times and translated into many languages.
no need to be rude. and if you're getting your info from wikipedia, then you're getting the wrong info. and if you were so correct in the names of all the books, then you wouldn't be so vehement in defending it. thank you for being so frelling rude to a potential buyer.
I have 4 copies as I have already said, and one of them is just the one BIG book. That's kinda why that call it a trilogy! My box set from the 60's is just the 3 books. Now there are other books that go with it like The Tolkien Read and The QPB Companion to the LOTR and The New Tolkien Companion for I have these too. But If this "4th book" was so Common knowledge, it wouldn't be left out and it would't be called a trilogy. And if I am wrong on my info, specially where I got it, you could have enlighten me and provide the name of the "4th Book" Frankly I do not appreciate you trying to make it appear that I don't know what I am listing. And If there was this "4th Book" Who Cares?! I think having these four with free shipping is a good deal. Not to mention I am reliable. I stated what I'm selling in my Description. Misleading any buyer Potential or not is Not what I am about.
Okay it looks like the hobbit was printed in 1977, the fellowship was printed in 1965. Has a whole page dedicated to what edition in the releases dated between 1965-1974 but I just realized the very first page of the fellowship is torn. The review page that magazines write. I'll take a pic and post it. The two towers again have print dates from 1965-1973 The return of the king. Same print dates 1965-1973
