They don't keep very good time if you don't wind them daily. Usually when you wind the alarm when you go to bed. My mom had a Baby Ben by Westclox for a long, long time...... I think, probably she got it some time during the height of the Greco-Roman Empire. They seem to be sturdy as all get-out. If this Seth is that old (and I think it is), it should last forever, too. If it is slow, a good cleaning might just do the trick. Love wind up clocks. Battery driven ones can be unreliable, too. It is so insidious (sneaky) when the battery starts losing juice ever so slowly....
