I make aprons for the little girls all the time and found 2 things they don't like: ties around their necks and knots in the tie at the back that keep them from taking the apron off without help.(And I am tired of fixing ties that I've had to cut to get off) SO I adjusted a pattern and it's a hit! The tie is all one piece. It's double wide binding tape. Goes up through one side and down the other. Adjusts over the child's head and neck, then is pulled across the back until comfortable and not TIED but it uses velcro for closure. That way they can reach around and undo it themselves when they are done "Helping" me in the kitchen. Included is a safety pin to pull an end through if it gets pulled out, or after washing. THIS Apron is for a child 3-6 years of age. The waist measures 14" across for good coverage and it is 20" long from the top to hem.
I put a pocket in front because I have one on my aprons and the kids think they need one too.so I let them write on recipe cards and then carry them in their pockets
