Description

The listing, VINTAGE ORNATE TRAVEL-FOLDING-CUP has ended.

This unique cup stands 3 1/8 inches tall with lid off. The lip or opening is 21/2 inches wide. When completely closed it is 7/8 inches high with lid on. The Cup is most likely stainless steel . On the bottom of cup it is stamped Pat"D Feb.23.97 and made in USA. these were very popular in the 1800'S .and many companies put their pat. # on merchandise. But since it says" made in" that means it was made after 1920. I would say 30's or 40's, when women still wore gloves, everyone carried a handkerchief, and Sunday Rides in the car were a must. """"""presented for auction is a antique cyclist's collapsible drinking cup. embossed on the bottom is "pat'd feb 23, 97 made in u.s.a.". this metal cup expands to 3" tall. the ornate cover depicts riders on a bicycle built for two. this 1897 metal cup is in very good vintage condition with no dents or damage.

I would say this was made in 1997 and not that of the 30's or 40's as ya say. You state and I quote "On the bottom of cup it is stamped Pat"D Feb.23.97 and made in USA." end quote. This means it was made Feb 23rd 1997. Never the less it is a nice piece for anyone to have because it is a collapsible cup. W.

Well That is amazing..so all the antiques I have with Pat.(any month ) ( any year example 02....27..87..were all made in the 1900 hundreds..Because in 1997 I just don't remember many companies making folding traveling cups..don't suppose you could find any for me? Think I'll go check it out mysef. Thank you for your very kind knowledge..I'm up for anything..But at least my Cup holds water. :)

Well, today I feel like a History lesson..When an item has a Patent-Date.that is the date they received a patent on that Product, so that no one else can reproduce it identically. when you see Pat'd applied for..it still in process of being patented ..and you still can't copy.. Next In 1920 there was a law passed that products made after1920 must say " Made In " no not home made just manfactured and import- export items. I don't like to see people get taken or mis-led ...and the only way to learn is for people to share or read Lots.. Happy Day All :)

Too Funny Carolyn, I'm with you! Don't think US was making them in 1997! Some other Countries, Maybe? Unless of course if it was Tiffany's??? then it would be marked! Whatever the case, it is Beautiful!!! It could very well be 1897. Already a Fan & watching!!!!
