Passion Flower refers to vines in the genus Passiflora —flowering plants known for their showy flowers. The Blue Passion Flower, also known as the Common Passion Flower, is a vine native to southern Brazil and Argentina.
The unusual shape of the flowers has led to the plant being associated in Christian symbolism with the passion of Jesus; the three stigmas representing the three nails used to nail Jesus to the cross, the five anthers represent the five wounds, the corona represents the crown of thorns, and the ten 'petals' (actually five petals and five sepals) the ten apostles; the leaves also represent the hands of those who persecuted him, and the tendrils the whips of those who beat him.

When the flower dies off you will get a seed pod close to the stem or at the very bottom of where the flower first originated from. The pods will look like what I have pictured, if they are the solid white flowers. I have double purple ones and those seed pods are just the opposite of the white.

In photo #5 I have 3 different colors here. On the right is the ones I am giving away and are pictured. In the middle are Gothic passion flowers which are a dark red to dark mauve in color, and on the left are a darker colored purple. Each Different colored passion flower has it's own way of producing seed pods meaning they are in the passion flower family yet different species.. You can also tell the difference in what color the flowers will be by the color of the stalk. Please remember that this auction is for the passion flower color ya see in the photo's. I am still waiting for the seed pods to mature enough to harvest on the other colors, and will list them when they are ready. At the beginning of this plant starting to grow I used Miracle-Gro for the fist 3 months. These flowers bloom all season long from spring - fall and will go into hibernation for the winter time. They will return each year from the root system already in the ground. TY

Once the flower dies off a fruit will appear and it is in the fruit that the seeds are. Each color has it's own way of making the fruit. I have a darker purple and the fruit for them are with in an enclosed in a shield loaded with a sticky syrup to protect the fruit. Those fruit are green in color and when ripe they turn a nice shade of red. I also have what they called a Gothic in color flower that has not shown any flowers this year so I have to wait til next year to see what they produce. All I can say is I know which colors the flowers will be by looking at the stalk that grows from the ground up. The ones pictured have a light colored stem, the darker purple have a purple stem and the Gothic has a stem which is red in color. Hope this helps. TY for the ask.
