Passion Flower refers to vines in the genus Passiflora —flowering plants known for their showy flowers. The Blue Passion Flower, also known as the Common Passion Flower, is a vine native to southern Brazil and Argentina.
The unusual shape of the flowers has led to the plant being associated in Christian symbolism with the passion of Jesus; the three stigmas representing the three nails used to nail Jesus to the cross, the five anthers represent the five wounds, the corona represents the crown of thorns, and the ten 'petals' (actually five petals and five sepals) the ten apostles; the leaves also represent the hands of those who persecuted him, and the tendrils the whips of those who beat him.

I would love to say yes, however I am unsure of this. I do know that within a pod it does look like a fruit such as kiwi looks like. My purple passions pods are green in color yet much smaller then the ones in photo's and are now turning red. Pictured ones stay green and shrivel up as they get ready to drop. I will do some research to see which ones are edible.

I hope to see you list more of these in another month, as the longer you leave the fruit on the tree, the higher germination rates you get from the (fully matured) seeds. I have fanned you to keep an eye out for these seeds come mid-October.

In photo #5 I have 3 different colors here. On the right is the ones I am giving away and are pictured. In the middle are Gothic passion flowers which are a dark red to dark mauve in color, and on the left are a darker colored purple. Each Different colored passion flower has it's own way of producing seed pods meaning they are in the passion flower family yet different species.. You can also tell the difference in what color the flowers will be by the color of the stalk. Please remember that this auction is for the passion flower color ya see in the photo's. I am still waiting for the seed pods to mature enough to harvest on the other colors, and will list them when they are ready. At the beginning of this plant starting to grow I used Miracle-Gro for the fist 3 months. These flowers bloom all season long from spring - fall and will go into hibernation for the winter time. They will return each year from the root system already in the ground. TY

@ kenzidemia Unfortunately I had no other choice but to harvest the seeds early as my hubby even thought I asked him to stay away from my yard art and my plants took a weed eater to close to this flower bed and hit a lick on the colored ones in the photo. Once the plant started wilting I took the fruit so the they did not fall to the ground so the hubby would not chop them up into mulch. I do believe that the seed will root out once they are on the ground based on all the carpenter bees and ants this color attracted.
