This is from an estate I am helping to close out of a sweet couple who met during WWII. Their life together (almost 69 years) was blessed many times. One of their daughters is a very close friend.

Historical significance - In his retirement, Grant was the first president to circumnavigate the world on his tour, dining with Queen Victoria and meeting many prominent foreign leaders. Grant and his family arrived at Nagasaki, Japan on June 7, 1879. He expressed that he thought was Japan beautiful beyond description. Was most likely purchased during a trip to that area (like so many items from estate) and then stuck away, forgotten.
