It takes 3 double A's, and it's more of a learning mat. The baby touches or stands on any part of the mat that has an insect or letter and the mat recites this to them. Also If they play the game it'll ask them which letter comes after H for example and they'd have to step on I. It's really neat.

Probably starting at about a year. Teaches insects, and abcs.
