Description

The listing, Chinese Silver Dragon Coin has ended.

Moderators ~~~ This coin was incorrectly deleted and does not break any Lista rules at all, it is highly collectible and out-of-circulation currency.

(1) Chinese Silver Dragon Coin 7 Mace and 2 Candareens which were circulated between 1898-1905 and are more correctly known as Kiang Nan Dollars. There were derivatives of these issued by other provincial governments at the time, however there are also many fakes of this type of coin, produced over the past decades. Some of these have also now become collector’s items, as in order to pass them off but the silver content remains high.

Note ~~~ Silver content could be as low as 20% or as high as 70%. Lead content is almost always 30% and the filler is Iron or Tin. Some people call this alloy Stannan. These coins were struck at many different mints and there was little quality control in the striking. No records remain of the content or mintage.
Questions & Comments

The original coins were 80% silver and had no lead content. Unfortunately, there are 10000x the fakes than the real ones

You should also let any potential bidders know that the coin is magnetic as per our conversation the last time you had this listed. The replica coins are not worth anything other than a toy or something a teacher could use to show kids. Being that this coin is magnetic, it should not have the word silver at all in the description or title. You should have all information available to buyers. Just saying.

On a side note, there are replicas that have silver content, but they are not magnetic. They make them out of silver to pass them off as real, but the only way to tell is by the weight of the coin. The real coins weigh 27 grams and are 90% silver, not 80%. http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces15960.html
