It is an ecard versus a physical plastic card and restaurants have no problem taking them. I sell this type of card frequently.

I know subway has an app, but how do they redeem them in a physical shop?? I've never tried to use a digital card inside a Subway. I can't seem to find any info on their site or the net either. I've searched everywhere lol!
