Can someone please tell me what the Fanned & Watching thing is about? Do you get extra points for having more "fans"?

I generally use the fan feature to follow people who offer stuff I like to bid on, I thought that's what it was for. But then it doesn't work that well for my purpose either, because most people offer different stuff all the time.

The more fans you, yourself have as well as watching you get points. You get banges when you hit a point of fans, comments, watching, auctions, etc.
