The hot mat is to rest the iron on so it doesn't ruin your dresser or counter. The balm protects your hair and makes it super soft. Although you really don't need it with this iron cause this makes your hair soft by itself :) and lastly it's 120v. Thanks for asking!!

hi, fanned and watching, may sound like a dumb question but could you tell me if this was bought at a retail store or off the internet. only reason i am asking is i am looking for one for my daughter and was doing some research and it seems some of the ones bought off one of the big shopping sites seem to not be the same quality as what you get from a retail store. may be nothing but i thought i would ask, thanks

I actually got it at one of those kiosks they set up in malls at Christmas time. Lol I had never heard of the brand and the guy offered to to my hair.... I thought what the heck, so he did it and my hair was sooooo soft and healthy, I had never seen it like that before. Anyway, this product is amazing and as sad as I am to see it go, I just don't use it like it should be used :) hope that helps!!
