For the unknowing, there are three feathers on the Indian head dress. A long one on the outside, a medium in the middle and a short one against the neck. These varieties were created at the U.S. Mint as a result of over polishing of the dies. This is listed in the Cherry Pickers Guide" and Numismatic News Guide.
