only my experienced opinion, but the lovely graduated pearls with elongated drop pearl pendant or enhancer, with earrings matched to the drop pearl, is an artistic piece of jewelry, even if it is made out of solidified marshmallow and will make any woman lovelier by its grace, however, the expense of a natural drop shaped pearl of this size would break a king's wallet, not to mention the unbelievable rarity of finding matching smaller but perfectly proportioned drop pearls to fashion earrings from, which would also break the queen's pocketbook. The metal which the earrings hang from whether pierced or clipon, should be stamped somewhere "925" if modern silver, or marked sterling, as would be the clasp on back of the necklace, or it may have the maker's stamp, such as "monet" or "1890's" house stamps if the really nice goldtone or even a goldwash over silver. good luck with it, it is hard to find the occasion and dress or sweater to wear with such regal, but everywoman's beautiful jewelry, and some folk have more occasion than others, such as church or business functions. I only break down such lovely faux pearl jewelry to remake into my new line of lady's faubs and purse-jewelry, and that'd be a shame with this.
