Okay Folks,
As I'm sure most of you know by now there really are no Hunger Games costumes with the exception of the training jacket and the arena shirt which are both outrageously expensive so I have put together a Katniss hunting outfit which centers around a cool pair of boots of my daughter which I was going to list anyway.

The outfit consists of a pair of brown suede like brown boots with buckles that are in excellent condition. They are a size 61/2 (women's). I also have one suede like brown shirt/jacket (lightweight) in a size Med. Underneath is a black long sleeve shirt that is a size petite medium. To complete the outfit I have a brown double Steve Madden belt with gold studs and a long brown and grey feather hair extension. I am also throwing in a toy bow and arrow set. I have another one up for auction by itself. It's small but it should do the trick.

All you will really need are the pants and a game pouch, and of course a long braid. lol

One of the nice things is that all these items you can still use AFTER Halloween. Hopefully, these will all fit someone out there perfectly.

I did see the shirt & training jacket, they are so expensive, you are right! I just cannot believe with the first book being such a hit, that not one co. Thought of a HG Line of Costumes? Makes no sense! But, I agree with you, I always have made our costumes It is more fun & so much more creative and like your's the items we have used can be worn again!

I totally agree! I'm not going to pay $50 for an outfit I'm probably going to wear once.
Plus, when we were young my Mom always handmade our costumes and we hd some of the best ones on the block. lol

Thanks.....yeah I bet the costume manufacturers are kicking themselves like crazy. I hardly ever bought a costume though. I always had more fun putting my own together plus the "ready made costumes" are always so expensive!!!!

No, you did a great job!! The boots, well everything together is perfect:) It is not like you could offer so many different sizes, lol unless you owned a shoe store!! It is a fabulous outfit/costume. And really would be great for everyday wear, after Halloween!

So, have you found anything new to read, since Mockingjay, that you really enjoy? LOL I have tons of books, but when I go to the library or even target I don't see anything that really appeals, to me. Well, that is probably since I just "glance" at them! I love a great "series" by an Author that can keep my attention!

Hmmmm.....I love series but I usually lean towards the paranormal romances. I can give you plenty of suggestions if you like them..as a matter of fact I have a whole series of books by MaryJanice Davidson that is paranormal but mostly hilarious.
Did you read the "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" series. That was excellent, too. I really liked The Hunger Games because it was innocently lromantic. Hey, I'm reading a book now that you might like, It's called Angelfall(Penryn and the end of days) by Susan Ee. One good way to sample books is to go to Amazon and look up what they have on their kindle list. A lot of times they have samples of the books you're browsing. Hope that helps...it's great being a book lover...some people just don't know what they're missing. lol

WOW! Thanks for the "book" list! I appreciate it:) Seems like we like to read similar types, I Have the "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" Series on DVD, But have not yet watched one! I thought that I should read the books, first? Which I have seen on sale at target! What do you think? Did you see the Movies? I want to watch them! My advice to you is don't watch the movies until you read the books!! It will definitely ruin it for you if you watch them first. The books go into so much more depth about the psychological aspects of the character that you just can't get from the movies. You will love them. I watched the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movie after the book and it was like The Hunger Games. I was like..."where are all the good parts!" lol If you read them let me know what you think. They are AWESOMR!!!

I know you are right, that is why the Hunger Games movie, was good, but there is no way they could fit it in, the books are always better! I really thought that the cast, although because the movie is so short, you could never "know" them like in the book, was a bit strange for Hunger Games?! Particularly Katniss?? Now Miss Dior's spokes Model! What did u think?

I know!!! When they first casted for the movie I couldn't believe she was playing the role of Katniss. In my head I had such a different concept of what she would look like!!! There are so many physically and emotionally strong actors in Hollywood that could have played the part but I guess the money wasn't right for them. What can you do but enjoy the books. lol

I know...that's the only problem with listing something like this. If the boots don't fit it throws the whole outfit off, but maybe you can use your own amd use the rest of the costume.

I think my size 7 feet can squeeze into the boots! I hope I have enough credits (though I feel this auction will probably wind up going over my head). If I lose, which I probably will, you gave me some great shopping ideas! I was wating to be Katniss for Halloween, but it's gotta be on a budget. If I can't win here, I might see what I can scrounge up similar at secondhand stores....

The boots are very soft and flexible and I think would fit a size 7. I actually enjoy shopping around for my own concept of what the character might look like especially if you just read the book and didn't see Hollywood's concept of Katniss Everdeen.
Good luck on putting together an awesome costume. I'm sure it will be great. :-)
