I was tired of spending about $8-$10 each for these everytime my daughter lost one so I bought several from the manufactuter. They work great and just rest inside of the ear instead of plugging into the ear canal like a cork into a bottle. Surprisingly, they don't fall out easily, either. Taking it from the manufacturer: "With a balanced voice performance and excellent sound quality, this earphone becomes the first choice of CD/MP3/MP4 or other players."

I don't know what the normal one is because I don't have an ipod. But I have another like this one and it works in everything my daughter has, which is about four items. Thank God it also works on my computer speakers so I don't have to listen to Pink when I go into my home office.
