UNUSUAL Pencil Cactus cutting
To start a cutting of 1" to 2".
Every 500 credits I will add another 1" or so cutting.
This is a very unique plant,Euphorbia tirucalli, with pencil-shaped stems and very small deciduous leaves. Stems contain a milky sap which you do not want to get on your skin. It is a Succulent plant that can grow up to 15 feet in ideal conditions. Grows best in full sun with little to moderate water. Hardy to 25F (4C) for short periods of time. Makes a unique container plant.
Take the one cutting or more and put in very porous soil to root. Rooting powder is useful. Do not use regular potting soil. The soil must drain easily.It can be grown outside in warm climates. It makes a very unusual houseplant which does grow
smal leaves.

Questions & Comments

Some people are extremely allergic to the sap. Ingestion or even skin or eye contact in some cases can cause violent allergic reaction worthy of a trip to the ER.
These are cool plants; don't let their sap deter you from owning one, but do take precaution, especially around children and pets. I have one myself and I make sure to keep it out of reach at all times.
