The listing, New Halloween / theatrical costume - 5 pieces, nice quality! (flapper, disco chick, etc.) has ended.

This costume was created by Doolittles, a masquerade and theatrical costume manufacturer. It includes 5 pieces – 1 dress, 2 arm covers, 1 scarf and 1 headband – and is not your typical lightweight cheapie-joe costume. It is nice quality with regular-weight material, apparently more stage-show quality than standard costume quality. You can see the detail in the lacy overlay in a couple of the photos. It’s nice!

When checking out photos, use #2 and #4 as the best representation of overall costume appearance. Some others make it look brighter/gaudier than it is due to the camera flash, but they also show details in the pattern so I left them and posted a variety.

I fell in love with this costume on eBay, where it was stated it was custom-made for the seller and had never been worn. It actually *still* hasn’t been worn, as the person I bought it from gave the size as XL without giving measurements and it ended up fitting me like a glove (I was too self-conscious to wear it).

For that reason, I took measurements with hope the person who has it next can actually use it. *Lying flat on the floor* it measures approximately:

16” from armpit to armpit
36” from armpit to the very longest hemline point at the side bottom
18” detached sleeves (with loops to hook over middle finger)
68” scarf
9.5” headband

A good way to guess how well it will fit is to lie one of your favorite-fitting garments on the floor and see how closely these measurements match. The material on this outfit is stretchy , but all measurements were taken *without* stretching the material.

It sounds like this is much smaller than an xl. It seems more like a medium/large to me. Was it too small for you?

I agree that it's smaller than a standard XL. That's why I posted measurements; I encourage anyone who is interested to go by the measurements and not the size tag (as I also stated in the description). Thanks for your comment! :)

Thanks for your question - I fanned you back! The costume may (or may not!) stretch to an 18 but it's definitely smaller than a standard 18. It says "XL" but it's more like the same XL you might find in a mall store like Deb - probably 1-2 sizes smaller than the label (I always hated Deb for that, lol).

A gal after my own heart! I really like it - enough that I seriously thought about getting a black lacy dress and using that with the accessories (and listing the dress alone), but in the end I couldn't bear to break up the set. I hope it works out for the winner! :)
