actually, males and female bettas can't live together at all. even during breeding, you remove them as soon as they lay the eggs. bettas can only live together in a divided tank, or as a 4+ female sorority in a tank 10 gallons or bigger.

this is a cute tank for one betta. two can, but it should only be temporary. either way, totally watching. :B

My male and female did okay in the other tank just like this. At first he would puff at her through the wall but a little over 4 months and they didn't mind each other. Guess it was a unique occurrence:)

Cassie, I agree with you mostly. I had two similar tanks with two pairs of betta's. One pair did exactly as you'd described, but the other pair puffed at each other and wouldn't stop attacking; I never was able to keep the wall removed. But I don't think it's a unique occurrence, just the temperament of the fish.

Can you take a pic of the actual tank? Is it used?

Probably:) they were pretty cool fish:)
I got it to get another pair but ended up putting my male in it for about a week after the female died(of age) cause he was moping around in the old one but he didn't like it so I moved him.
Sorry I have no way of getting new pics up right now:(

bettas are territorial fish. they can rarely live together peacefully. even breeding is dangerous to the fish. the only time they can live in the same tank is in a divided tank with the divider IN and secure, or in a sorority of females, with 4+ females in a tank 10 gallons or larger. i've heard of ONE case of a male living with females, and he was blind and in a sorority of girls.
the puffing you describe is them trying to get the other out of their territory. i wouldn't be shocked to hear if they had ragged fins as well.
either way, i've wanted a tank like this for my niece for a long while. she wants another betta fish and her own tank, not one of my spare tanks. :B

No their fins were fine:) And they were fine but they didn't mate they were together since they were tiny. And yes it was male and female.

I had Bettas in a 10 gallon tank with Catfish,Tetras,Angel Fish and Alge eaters. I NEVER had any of my fish attack another fish. I have put a Betta in every fish tank I have ever had with other fish and they have never attacked the other fish. There were no special foods or chemicals used for them to get along either. Some times I guess it just depends on how well the person knows the fish they are mixing also.....Fanned and Watching :)
