A classic market variety, Bloomsdale Long Standing is a large, spreading spinach with meaty, savoyed, dark-green leaves with rich, nutty flavor. Offers a continuous bonanza and is slow to bolt. For first crop, sow in spring. Plant again in late summer. In regions with mild winters, fall plantings yield in early spring.
Glossy dark green crinkled leaves. The plants stand a long time before "bolting" so you can harvest several times over a long season. Great for salads. Sow in average soil in early spring for a first crop or again or in late summer for a fall crop. In the south sow in the fall. Sow thinly in rows 1 1/2 to 2 inches apart, cover with 1/2 inch fine soil, fir lightly and keep evenly moist. Seedlings will emerge in 7 to 14 days. Thin gradually to 6" apart. Grows best in 6 plus hours of full sun daily then at a depth of 1/2 inch, thin plants 6 inches apart and 7 plants per 12 inch container they will be ready for harvest in as little as 40 to 48 days.
