no-there is magnet powder in the polish and you can make designes on your nails as you polish them.

I know how it works,u hold the magnet over ur wet polish & the design shows up,i have some & the design on the magnet is sorta a starburst,is the wave look on the cap on the magnet?the design on the magnet is the design that shows up on ur nails

Not sure how it works...try googling it. It is a sealed bottle and I never felt like checking it out. I only painted my nails whe I worked. Sorry!!
