The listing, Miniature REPLICA of 1908 $20 Gold Coin has ended.
I found this in a box I recently unpacked that's been stored away for over 30 years and thought someone on Listia would love to have this! Apparently I "won" this back in the late 70's, and it just got packed away until now.
I keep listing coins on here, and Listia keep removing the auctions (?) but since this one is NOT a real coin and cannot be used for currency, I hope it will not be removed. I think collectors might be interested in this one, even though it is NOT a real coin.
This very interesting little item is a miniature REPLICA of the 1908 $20 gold coin (which is considered "America's Most Beautiful Coin").
It is mounted on a 3-1/2" x 5-1/2" card, and the back of the card gives some really great information about the 1908 $20 gold coin, commissioned by Teddy Roosevelt. There's an interesting story about the president, the sculptor commissioned to design it, and the model used, as well as a great description of the old $20 gold coin itself.
"This miniature golden REPRODUCTION of the famous 1908 gold piece has been electroplated with genuine 24-karat gold. Although it may look small, it is truly a "big" miniature when you consider it is more than 2/3 the size of the original U.S. gold dollar." to quote part of the data on the back of the card.
