It's a handy dandy tool that allows you to easily start a fire without a lighter or matches. Also has a whistle and compass, which is always helpful to have when you're in the woods. I ordered a bunch of these as stocking stuffers, but definitely over estimated and have a few extra so I decided to share with my fans on Listia. Just in time for the holidays. Sorry for the delay in response...I'm not exactly sure how many strikes it's good for. It will definitely last for awhile. I'll look online and see if I can come up with a better answer for you.

I looked it up online and it seems that these will last for years...I've had the same one for a few years, but I only use it when we go camping or start a bonfire. It's not the same as a book of matches, so you shouldn't have to worry about it running out. With these, you use the striker to scrape the paint off and then use the striker to shave off a little bit of the magnesium stick and then strike it to make a spark.

I was looking at the box, and realized that it says that each stick contains 12,000 strikes. I didn't realize the information was right under my nose. lol!
