yeah thats what I was going to use it for on my laptop to extend my wireless reach but i have a mac and it only works with windows.

yes this is what I originally used it for was just to get internet on a desktop that was not near the router. it works great. then when I got a used mac with poor wifi signal, i thought I might be able to use it but its not compatible. so thats why I listed it.

make sure your desktop meets minimum requirements before bidding. you need an older desktop like windows xp or vista. it will pick up any wireless signal in range. if you have a wireless router it should pick up that signal as well.
