Are the stones glass or acrylic or howlite or some other actual "stone" ?

They are very hard, solid. I honestly can't tell. They may be some type of stone, but I do know that it's not real turquoise, like I said in the listing. I'm not sure if it's plastic or a solid stone of some sort made to look like turquoise. I'm usually pretty good at figuring these sorts of things out but this one has me stumped. It's solid, pretty, with no flaws or I wouldn't have listed it. :) Wish I could help more.

I've been trying to figure out exactly what the "stone" is, for lack of a better word. I'm pretty certain it's not howlite. I think its a type of hard plastic similar to thermoset. It's very hard...strong, and pretty. Wish I could give the chemical breakdown for you but I'm not a chemist. I just know I really liked these pieces so I bought them. :)
