The listing, make money growing JEWELWEED has ended.

My hiking friend just got an order for this plant requesting over a hundred pounds. It sells for $35.00 to $45.00 a pound. It is one of our most requested plants and we cannot fill all our orders..
This is the plant that Native Americans have used for many years to treat poison ivy, poison oak, rashes, stinging nettle,bug bites and stings, etc. The hummingbirds go crazy over the flowers and you will discover many hovering over your plants. The plants develop little pods in the fall that "pop" at the least amount of movement and only contain a very few seed, and this makes it difficult to collect. Once started, it spreads rapidly. I do have a set amount of seed I've set back to list on Listia, so get them while you can. The plant can be used fresh to diffuse the oils when your skin comes in contact with poison ivy. The plant can also be sold to soapmakers, or try making your own soap. It's really very easy and I have a simple recipe I am glad to share. The plants have all dispersed their seed for this season so supplies will be limited.
It likes a damp or moist area to grow. Prefers some shade
but we find it growing in several different locations, mostly profuse near creek banks or edges of woodland.

It's handy to carry in your pocket when hiking, fishing, hunting, etc. I keep a bar near my outside spiqot in a mason jar that I wash up with after gardening. Can't live without it. I hike every day that weather permits, as wildcrafting is my hobby, and I NEVER get rashes. I will say, I use the soap often and regularly and timely.

Damn! Have you ever thought about writing a book?!!! Or shud I say... " whoop up a book"! The kind of knowledge you have is s dying art. To much of this kind of info. has already been lost. Iv been "trying" to learn all I can from books. I always wished I knew someone who could teach me -hands on. But-again... There isn't to many people left to share their wealth of knowledge. Oh I wish I'd known about collecting the bugle weed seeds a couple weeks ago! I cud have harvested a ton! Well, I'll remember next year! I'm sooo bummed about your white raspberries! I had bid 4000 plus, but didn't get back to look till 4 mnts after it was done & I lost! I just wanted to cry! I'm thinking it's possible iv ran across these & just thought they wer unripe raspberries! I'll have to look closer. Another thing... I & my kids have ated, hunted & roamed all through these woods up here in MN, & it couldn't be a coincidence that weve never ran into poison ivy! (out of 6 kids at least ONE shud have!) we pick many plants -so is it possible to be immune to poison ivy?

It is possible to be not affected and possible that you go all your life that way and then one day get it like crazy. I do know poison ivy loves clean skin. NEVER take a bath before hiking, lol.

I feel like a complete imbecile! Even though I read this ~ I didn't read it well enough apparently! I thought I was bidding on your recipes & uses for this plant! I didn't realize I was bidding on the actual SEEDS!!! So I just way over bid some poor person who actually needs & wants these seeds! wow, well, as far as recipes go, I would never sell one. I feel honored when someone compliments a dish I've whupped up and am more than glad to share how to make it. Luckily with jelly, I measure so I can give the recipe correctly. Most dishes I just take a handful of this and a jar of that, lol. If you win, I'll throw in my recipe for yellow jacket soup. Digging the yellow jacket nest up is the hard part, lol.

well, i'd be glad to trade some of that soap for some beads, lol. Im looking for clear or colored glass beads that are 1/2 inch size or larger. I'll be listing more soap until what Im selling runs low. I make it all winter to stock up for spring. Most of my insight is with critters. I've raised everything from gators to wolves to possums and coons and birds. I'll even pick up a five foot rattlesnake and chase the menfolk around just to watch them dance, LOL. I was evidently born with an abundance of intestinal fortitude and lucky I've survived what I have.

That's just to good!!! My daughter & I are the animal people in the family too! We don't have a lot if those critters up here. Web got the wolves,coyotes,cougars,etc.! We've had snakes of many kinds, tarantulas, etc. We love snakes! Love the toilet paper thing... Though I'm pretty sure ill pass on that test! Lol!

yeah, but diggin up the nests is the hard part. Sorry your allergic to their sting. I've been bitten, clawed, stung so many times Im immune to most everything, lol, at least I survived. Yellow jacket soup is an old Cherokee recipe. Best to make it with bear grease.

Would love to get some of these seeds! There's about four neighbor kids who miss school every year cause of poison Ivy! I'm also allergic ! As a kid had to be wrapped in sheets! Read up on this plant! But hadn't seen any !

I just saw your last post on this! I would LOVE to talk to you more about this plant (&many others!)! I have studied herbs & alternative health for many years. Do to my bad health- (fibromyalgia, etc.) but I have a giant jungle of this plant (both types) right behind my house- & I mean- right behind my house! I don't know if there are any flower heads left now (I live in northern Minnesota) due to Fall (& a couple of goat escapes!) but I'd like to know more about them!

I got shots for poison Ivy for some many years that I don't need this for that amymore, but the Stinging Nettle drives me nuts. I am always wearing sandals and run into it.

I have friends that do the shots also, but I prefer to try natural over manmade first. Just like our food system, you never know what youre really getting when its packaged,lol. I hate nettle also. This doesn't prevent nettle from zapping you , but will give relief from the effects of it for most. I hate that stuff. That is a vicious weed.

It's a vicious weed BUT it has several very good uses & is extremely good for your health! Once it's cooked or boiled it looses it's sting (gloves are a must when harvesting it!) and there is almost ALWAYS a plant growing right next to it that will remedy the painful stings - yellow dock is just one example. Making tea out of it is great to drink and rims your hair for dandruff & other scalp issues. Young leaves ate eaten like spinach. Etc. , etc.! Lol! I'm pretty sure you already know most or all of this already!

OMG! If ya need s good laugh... I was visiting relatives in Mississippi when I was about 3 years old... Being "3" I figured I would just pull the ole pants down & go potty outside.....& unknowingly ... On a red ant colony!!! It was bad enough for me to remember it -AND my mother spraying me off with the hose! Nope! Those ants are NOOOO good! (I lived with same relatives for about a year when I as 18 also & those ants just seemed to get more nasty!!! Lol!)
I & my hubby have used our bee's for beesting therapy to. Iv got arthritis in my knees & spine & have the cursed fibromyalgia, so I go to desperate measures for ANY relief!!!

I can up you on that one. Last month I stopped on the side of a busy hwy with construction workers all around to check on a maypop vine I had found near the fence alongside the road. The construction workers all looked at me while I made my way kinda back in the bushes cause I was taking pics of this vine. After several pics I started getting attacked. I was standing right on top of an ant hill and my pants were completely black and covered. I pulled my shoes off while trying to back out of the bushes, and yep, off came them pants right then and there. I was running swinging them pants in one hand, shoes in the other, wearing nothing but my granny panties and tshirt. Cars were going slow cause of the construction anyway, and they were blowing their horns and waving to me while the constructions workers stopped at stared with their mouths wide open. It was a pretty good jaunt back to my car. I sat their an hour pickin ants off my pants and ended up driving home in my underwear, 15 miles.....LOL......I'll put my pic on the profile of me pickin ants, lol. I gotta get something besides granny panties, LMAO

You said your part Cherokee, my soon to be wife might be cherokee well we went to a pow wow and a few elders asked what tribe she was from and he couldnt tell them anything since she doesnt know. But the story goes that her mother slept with a cherokee male and her grandmother is part cherokee but that story is lost to the wind with her death before the story was told. Now we will soon be trying to get the story told as soon as we get the money to possibly do a DNA testing done.

yeah, part Cherokee, part bobcat here. Curious to know how the dna test goes. Lots of history destroyed or lost in Cherokee history, mine as well. If they weren't listed on the rolls, they don't exist. My ancestors refused to accept a number or be forced to a reservation, lost everything but spent their remaining days in the mountains here that they loved so dearly.I too thought about tracing and proving mine, however, I'd be given a number if I did, and out of respect for MY elders, I stand firm also. Times have changed and I am what I am, and proud of what I came from. I don't need the government to tell me what I am.........it doesn't matter, lol.
