The listing, Hobbyzone Firebird Commander R/C Airplane - Needs Repair! has ended.
The Hobbyzone Firebird Commander R/C airplane lists new for around $85, not including S/H. So, what's wrong with this one?
The plane has a critical design flaw. The wires (fishing line, actually) that control the tail surfaces run INSIDE the fuselage tube that supports the tail. About halfway down, 2 small holes were drilled in the tube so that the lines could be pulled out and connected to the tail. Obviously, drilling holes in a tube will weaken it, and it's exactly at this point where the tube failed.
As far as I know, everything else about this plane is working! I believe it uses a 4-channel transmitter; I haven't tested to see if it works, but since the main problem was the fuselage tube, I'm sure the transmitter is fine. You'll get a 110v power adapter to charge the plane battery while at home, and I believe you can recharge the battery in the field by connecting it to the transmitter.
Your job will be to either reinforce the fuselage tube in some manner so that it can withstand flight conditions once again, or else gut the plane for its parts! There will be several servos and a battery. You can use these for your own R/C plane!
It will ship into the box you see, so I suspect the cost will be around $10-15 Parcel Post. That's a BARGAIN price for a transmitter, servos, batteries, etc., given that it cost over $80 new!
I'm going to let this listing run for 10 days so as many people as possible can see it.
Good luck!
