A little history for you beauty/fashion lover: Jessica McClintock Inc. is an American fashion company specializing in bridal and formal wear. The designer behind the brand, Jessica Gagnon McClintock, is a former school teacher with no formal training in fashion design. She used the skills she learned from her seamstress grandmother, and ventured into the fashion world with the purchase of a company called Gunne Sax in 1969.

Gunne Sax is most remembered today for their long neo-prairie calico dresses that were an iconic fashion item of the 1970s. The company's designs were also notable for their puffy sleeves (known as "leg o' mutton" sleeves) and corset-style lacing. The Gunne Sax company was renamed Jessica McClintock in 1986. Clothing is still produced under both brands, following modern fashion trends, and with the Gunne Sax label reserved for children's clothing. The company is known today for its formal wear—prom dresses, bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses. The company's first perfume, Jessica McClintock for women, was introduced in 1988. This romantic floral remains a best-seller and has been joined by several other fragrances over the years.
