Description

The listing, Beautiful 1924 Peace Dollar has ended.

Another dollar from the eBay lot I won: http://bitly.com/RxDKbk

This a beautiful 1924 Peace dollar with no mint markings. Here are the tests conducted on it:

Tested as follows:

* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nbPlsWnoUs - ping test. All six dollars from my eBay lot have the base note on the ping or as I did, just drop them on the floor.

* Green silver acid test. My instructions for this green silver acid say if it is real silver, it is supposed to turn grey or milky grey. I scratched the edge of the coin on my testing stone and treated with the acid and it developed the gray and silky gray expected. This silver acid does not start red brown instead starts greenish grey.

* Red brown silver acid test. My instructions for this reddish silver acid say if it is real silver, it is supposed to turn brown if silver is 90%. I scratched the edge of the coin on my testing stone and treated with the acid and it developed the brownish color as expected.

ed - using 18K gold acid I also tested the coin. I scratched the edge of the coin on an acid stone. I got the the characteristic blue precipitate suggesting its silver.

* Strong magnet test - no attraction.

* Weight test - weighs 26.8 grams. A completely uncirculated coin supposed to be 26.73, but my scale doesn't go to the 100th gram. I guess my scale is a bit inaccurate. I think this is close enough.

* Plating test - when I scratched the edge of the coin on the acid stone, it showed the same silver color underneath.

Free US shipping. No Canadian or International shipping. (Too expensive.) I 'm not into GINs at the moment. Sorry.

is this tested to be real or a reproduction fake. I'm an Avis collector and don't want to get scammed. did you scratch this one like the Morgan? and if so it will reduce the value because of the scratch.

It tested as real. Most people buy the coins as kind of silver value. They are generally worth twice the silver melt value. I got the coins for $37 each and since I found out they were worth $50 I feared getting scammed so I started the extensive tests.. I only scratched the threads on the edge of the coin, not either face. I don't think they decrease the value much though I'm not sure.

Upon further study, it turns out these coins are worth around the $37 that I paid for them after all.
