No, it does not need a card. It uses one of those mini USB cables to charge and transfer.

I added a picture of the other one turned on. The display is not much to see on this one. Fairly simple. I assure you it works tho. Check my rep. I'm not gonna take advantage of anyone... just not in my nature.
