PC Express Smartcard memory card reader

So I have this Smart Card reader that I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT..LOL
It fit in a friends work laptop and the company closed so they sold these in bulk. We were told they work and that is all I know.
Here is what I found doing some research
The SCM SCR3340 is an ExpressCard/54 (54mm wide) smart card reader designed for laptops, providing a secure interface for CAC, PIV, and other smart cards. It uses USB 2.0, supports ISO 7816 Class A/AB cards, and is frequently used for secure login (Winlogon). It is hot-pluggable, making it easy to add to notebooks with compatible slots.
