Included in this auction:

A little time-piece of history! Not sure about the date of this one but guessing it is probably late 1940's. This is a ladies watch and the face reads Gruen Curvex Precision. It also is marked 14kt Gold Filled on the back of the watch and 1/40 10kt RGP on the clasp. Please note: the winding mechanism is missing on this one. The photos show the condition which definitely shows some wear.

Do you mean by " winding mechanism is missing on this one" ,that the stem is missing? the winding knob?
if you lightly shack the watch from side to side...hold watch upright with 12 at top.
then lightly shake watch pointing 12 towards 9 then towards 3 a few times.

then listen to see if it ticks?
thank you

Hi there, Did exactly as you ask and I do hear a ticking sound that lasts for a few seconds and then stops again. And yes, the stem or winding knob on the side of the watch is missing...just a tiny hole there . Hope that helps! ~Janna

ok...it just needs a winding stem...easy fix. most woman's watches are hard to date due to the fact they do not sell as well as a mans watch, unless you meet the rare woman that appreciates a classic timepiece. this is a classic piece,,,1935 t0 1942.
serial number on movement would give exact date, but that's ok.
what is most important is curvex..the actual movement is slightly curved to better fit the wrist. I am interested and will bid.
thank you for your prompt response.

You are very welcome and thank you very much for sharing your knowledge of the watch; all information that I will tuck away into the memory banks *s*. I am guessing the serial number would be found inside the watch and I wouldn't dare to try to open it =) . Pleasure to meet you.

Do you take paypal? What do you expect shipping to be to 21043? How long is it including the band?
Thanks!

21043 is Maryland, correct? It is free shipping in the U.S. as listed in the auction. Unfortunately as of this morning I am away from home until Monday evening so I have no way to measure the watch band, sorry. It is fairly dainty and small. Have a great night, Janna

ummm...you will always be one of my favorite bidders but if you win this one you might want to just keep it..it's a nearly 80 year old watch...and kind of a collector piece...If you do win I may not be able to send it to you unless you promise to keep it in ONE PIECE... =)

LOL somebody accidentally gave me a neutral today anyway so might as well have a negative too...It would be sacrilege to strip this watch apart for art....I will send you some old Timex watches for your art okay?
