Anna and the King of Siam by Margaret Landon, this is the 1949 paperback edition of the 1944 novel which was based on the diaries of Anna Leonowens, a British governess in the Royal Court of Siam (now modern Thailand) during the 1860s. The book was later adapted to film and and won several Academy Awards.

I'm no expert, but I consider this in excellent condition. Except for one faint stamp with former owner's name on the inside front cover and a small tear where front cover meets the spine, this 60 year old paperback has no marks or tears on the pages. A highly readable, clean, original Pocketbook publication. NOTE: The cover states "This edition has been specially prepared to make it shorter and more easily read."

A nice gift for a book collector or historian. It is also a great read for a young woman as an example of what a single gal can accomplish!
